1. Purpose & Contents
- Establishment of a large-scale clinical trial protocol to build up an objective evidence base on the safety and efficacy of cooperative treatment of western medicine and Korean medicine
- Find out the reasons for the disease that is a social issue, considered to be superior in both treatments
- Development of medical technology that can be used jointly or supplementally in clinical practice of Korean medicine
2. Results
- Establish a large-scale clinical trial protocol(randomized, double-blind, multi-center trial) to asses the safety and efficacy of cooperative treatment of western medicine and Korean medicine for refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease
- Phase Ⅰ clinical trials for drug interactions were designed to evaluate the effect of cooperative treatment.
- The role sharing of research and cooperation plan for conducting the research by participating medical institutions were discussed and decided.
- We selected a well-founded treatment that is actively used in the clinical medicine.
- Provide a basis for the detailed design of the clinical trial protocol through previous studies and medical guidelines

3. Expected Contribution
- If clinical results based on this protocol demonstrate better clinical outcome than individual treatment, it will help to develop domestic critical pathway of cooperative treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease and establish a clinical evidence for the use of Yukgunja-Tang in national health insurance system.
- It is anticipated that clinical efficacy of cooperative treatments can be evaluated by applying this clinical protocol to the chronic gastrointestinal disorder.
