다중언어 사회에서 읽기 교육의 방향 = The Direction of Reading Education in Multilingual Society

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Purpose：This paper examined the direction of the change of reading education as the context of literacy environment changes in multilingual society. Methods：For this purpose, we examined the concept of multilingual society and the aspect of reading in multilingual society by dividing it into reader, writer, text, and environment. In addition, we examined how KSL reading class should be changed within the multilingual environment and suggested some considerations in reading education. Results：This study emphasized that multilingual societies represent a society in which two or more languages are used, and that various forms of language and culture arising from communication among members of society are the characteristics of multilingual societies. In the multilingual society, critical literacy, media literacy, and cultural knowledge were emphasized due to changes in the context of literary environment, and the linguistic landscape was taken as an example. Conclusion：This study proposed the development of multilingual literacy learning environment and the utilization of various reading materials reflecting multilingual elements in the dimension of developing extended literacy considering multilingual environment.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

목적：본 논문은 다중언어 사회에서 문식 환경이 변화함에 따라 읽기 교육이 어떤 방향으로 변화되어야 하는지를 살펴본 연구이다. 방법：이를 위해 본고에서는 다중언어 사회의 개념과 다중언어 사회에서 나타나는 읽기의 양상을 독자, 필자, 텍스트, 환경으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 그리고 다중언어 환경에서 학교 내 한국어 읽기 수업이 어떻게 변화되어야 하는지에 대해서 살펴보고 읽기 교육에서 고려해야 할 사항을 제안하였다. 결과：본고에서는 다중언어 사회의 구성원들 간의 소통에서 나타나는 다양한 언어 형태나 문화가 다중언어 사회의 모습이라는 것을 강조하였다. 또한 다중언어 사회에서 비판적 문식성, 매체 문식성, 문화적 지식 등이 중요함을 강조하였으며, 언어 경관의 예를 통해 변화된 문식 환경의 모습을 보여 주었다. 한편, 학교 내 한국어 읽기 수업에서는 학생들의 모어를 노출시켰을 때 목표 언어의 학습 효과가 높아진다는 Cummins(1997, 2001)의 “상호의존가설”에 기반하여 학생들의 모어와 한국어의 자연스러운 입력이 필요함을 강조하였다. 결론：본고에서는 다중언어 환경을 고려한 확장된 문식성 개발이라는 차원에서 다중언어 문식성 학습 환경과 다중언어 요소가 반영된 읽기 자료 활용을 제안하였다.
