      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This script contemplates the controversy over the pros and cons regarding the ``Implied Author`` in the western world, and also examines the subsequent revision and supplementation of the ``Implied Author`` by Booth. In addition, it studies the effectiveness and usefulness of the concept in understanding Korean literature, based on poems of Lee Yook-sa. Ostensibly, Chatman criticizes the ``comprehensiveness`` and the ``personification`` of the concept of the ``Implied Author``, but an in-depth look reveals that Chatman acknowledges ``the implied author`` ontologically, and that he tried to re-determine and systematize it from a reader-oriented perspective. Ansgar F. Nunning was highly critical of the ``Implied Author`` in regards to the form in which the ``Implied Author`` was applied to reviews and to the criteria in judging the reliability of the narrator. Olson refutes the assumptions of Nunning, and instead, based on the arguments of Booth, reinforced the discussion on the types of narrators related to judgments on reliability. After such controversy, Booth revised his own opinion on the ``Implied Author``, which he stressed earlier as an official, objective self, to being an intrinsic self or an avatar as an extension of the actual author. This corresponds to an indirect counter-argument at the heart of the ``Implied Author`` controversy; that is, the assertion that the ``Implied Author`` is neither a personification nor ``a distinct agent``. The controversy on the implied author is a clear example of how an implied author that`s set up from an author-centric viewpoint, is reflected when seen from a reader-oriented perspective. Yet the ``Implied Author`` presents itself ontologically during the reader`s comprehension process, and it can lead the reader to fully and truly understand the literary work by grafting the autobiographical and fictional truths together. By composing ``a collection of implied authors``, that is ``Career-Author``, we can meet various egos, embodied metonymically by the author under the circumstances and restraints of his/her time. Specifically, the implied authors of Lee Yook-sa, who was a scholar of Chinese classics and an independence activist who fought for Korea`s independence under Japanese colonial rule, are vivid examples of the power of autobiographical truth-cherishing a strong and genuine passion for national independence-beyond the imaginative prism of ``the guest``, ``steel rainbow`` and ``the seed of a humble song``.
