The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the characteristics of Wisdom Literature in Torah.
There are three tributaries in Old Testament. They are Torah, Wisdom and Prophecy. There is the correlation of Torah with Wisdom Literature. And Wisdom Literature has an important effect on the historical development of Torah. T his fact can be demonstrated through the text of Torah.
After the introductory chapter, chapter 2 investigates the definition of Wisdom in old testament and the Ancient Near East Wisdom Literature.
In this chapter, We find out that Wisdom is a practical knowledge which is an underlying principle of life in order to gain happiness and success. And we are known that the Wisdom of Ancient Israel has its origin in revealed religion. In particular, the defference between the Wisdom of Anciant Near East and that of Israel was in the education of Wsidom. The Wisdom education in Israel was focused on the established Yahwism.
Chapter 3 examines the origin of Wisdom and the development of Wisdom. The Wisdom of Ancient Israel has its origin in revealed Religion. And the historical development of the Wisdom movement of ancient Israel can be reviewed in three periods, in terms of characteristic look of the Wisdom tradition, as follows : first, a period before the era of monarchy - a gate of folk Wisdom ; Scond, a period of monarchy - a stage of court Wisdom ; Third, a period of postexile - a stage of theologiration of Wisdom.
Chapter 4 surveys the definition of Torah and its life situation. Torah was taught by parents, prophet and priest. And the goal of Torah teaching was for the Israelites to be happy in Yahwism.
In chapter 5, We will be reviewed that Torah was developed in three stages. Namely, The historical development of Torah can be reviewed in three stages, in terms of a role of Torah. as follow ; first, a role of teaching ; second, a role of morality ; third, a role of law. And chapter 6 investigates the correlation of Torah with Wisdom Literature in the laws.
In conclusion, Wisdom Literature has a important effact on the historical development of Torah. And Torah identified with Wisdom in the end.
