안동 지역어의 단모음 체계 변화와 언어 외적 변인의 상관성 연구 = The study of a correlation between a change of a single vowel system and external factors outside of language in Andong dialect

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This writing has discussed the Andong-regional dialect focusing on a correlation between a change of a single vowel system in Korean Language, which is currently occurring, and external factors outside of language. First, a single vowel system of the Andong-regional dialect varies in age groups. Second, /ㅔ/ and /ㅐ/ are not subject to any external factors in the Andong-regional dialect, merging in all age groups. Third, according to age, /ㅟ/ and /ㅚ/ stand at the turning point in the Andong-regional dialect. In addition, their realized aspects varies according to gender. The higher level of education one has, the more he responds by pronouncing [wi], [we]. The rate of realized /y/(/ø/) is the highest in a formal talking, decreasing remarkably in pronouncing words or phrases. Still, in spite of gender, academic background, or the way of speaking, the vowel system does not change itself. Forth, /ㅔ/ and /ㅐ/ varies in age groups. In terms of a correlation between a change of a single vowel system in the Andong-regional dialect and external factors outside of language, it might be said that age, gender, academic background, the way of speaking are factors outside of language in a change of a single vowel system in Korean Language In this study, it is awakening that the age factor should be taken into consideration in a vowel system of Korean Language, and age-specific difference should be factored in when describing a single vowel system.
