하나님과 텍스트성: 조지 린드벡의 후기자유주의 종교론에 대한 비판적 평가 = God and Textuality: A Critical Study of George Lindbeck`s Postliberal Theory of Religion

This article analyzes George Lindbeck`s postliberal theology of religion and offers the following eight challenges. First, Lindbeck`s “textualizing of reality” has a danger of transforming theology as ‘talk about God`s being’ into theology as ‘talk about God talk.’ Second, his “performative-propositional” theory fails to mediate the first cognitive-propositional and the second cultural-linguistic model of religion. Third, liberal theology cannot be reduced to what he calls an “experiential-expressive” model but described better as a “hermeneutical-political” model. Fourth, phenomenologists point out that not all religious experiences presuppose doctrinal expectations but often go beyond such expectations. Fifth, theological aestheticians warn against Lindbeck`s potential theological elitism of textuality, and offer non-linguistic possibilities of revelation. Sixth, feminists critique Lindbeck`s relative neglection of biblical patriarchism. Seventh, public theologians argue that the community of interpretation includes not only church but academy, society, even civilization as well for the sake of genuine publicness of theology. Lastly, postmodern cultural theologians argues that church cannot be understood as an isolated cultural “tribe” but has a fundamental relational identity.
