국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문에서는 한국 독립영화를 하나의 문화생산 장으로 간주할 수 있는지에 대한 여부를 부르디외의 문화생산 장 이론에 맞추어 검토한 후 한국 독립영화가장의 자율성을 확보하기 위하여 어떠한 행위들을 했는지 살펴본다. 부르디외의 이론에 따르면 문화생산 장의 자율성을 높이기 위해 먼저 문화재화 경제가 기능할 수 있는 조건을 마련해주는 제도가 총체적으로 형성되는 동시에 미학적 체계도 정립되어야 하는 것으로 나타난다. 한국 독립영화 장은 자본 구성 측면, 상영 장소 확보, 네트워크 구축 및 예술상 역할을 할 수 있는 영화제의 지속적 개최, 독립영화 고유의 미학적 체계 형성 등의 측면에서 살펴보았을 때 이러한 조건을 충족하는 것으로 보인다. 한국 독립영화 장은 1980년대 이후 현재 2016년에 이르기까지 이러한 활동들을 통해 장의 자율성을 확보하는 방향으로 움직여 왔으며 이를 통해 지속적으로 독립영화의 문화재화가 기능할 수 있는 조건을 마련해 왔다고 볼 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study attempts to prove that the field of independent film in Korea can be explained by Bourdieu’s theory on the field of cultural production, and look into strategic actions in the field of independent film. According to Bourdieu, to establish autonomy of the field you should build both the system which can run the economy of cultural commodities and aesthetical theories of that culture. The field of independent film in Korea seems to have fulfilled those conditions above; in terms of raising capital, securing exhibition place, holding film festivals and building aesthetical system of its own.
