사례를 통해 살펴 본 만성화된 발모광의 인지행동치료 = A Case Study on the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Trichotillomania

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article describes a 42-session cognitive-behavioral therapy with a 30- year old female client having chronic trichotillomania. In particular, behavioral, cognitive, and motivational therapeutic interventions on relapse are discussed. Behaviorally, self-monitoring on hair-pulling behavior, coping with stressful situations, managing time effectively, strengthening self-assertiveness, and learning confrontational problem-solving strategies were emphasized throughout the entire therapy process. Cognitively, the client`s post-treatment urge for hair pulling and anxiety about relapse were normalized. Also, the issues of perfectionistic and dichotomous thinking were addressed. Motivationally, low self-esteem, pessimism, and lack of motivation to change were dealt with. As a result, the client reported enhanced mood and reduced frequency of hair-pulling. Finally, the importance of individually tailored approaches in treating chronic trichotillomania is discussed.
