‘역과 천거안(薦擧案)’ DB구축과 활용: 『司譯院完薦錄』,『司譯院別薦案』,『別薦案』,『兩廳完薦記』를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

조선시대는 양반관료제 사회로서 지금까지 양반 지배층을 중심으로 연구가 진척되어 왔다. 이는 무엇보다도 실록 등의 연대기 자료에서 역관, 의관, 음양관, 율관 등의 중인 신분에 관한 자료를 찾기가 쉽지 않다는 점에 기인하고 있다. 본 연구는 중인들 중에서도 조선시대 외국어 통역 업무를 담당했던 역관들의 인적 정보를 파악할 수 있는 「역과천거안」의 현황을 파악하고, 이들 자료를 통해서 역관들의 사회적 지위를 파악하고자 했다. 이는 지금까지 중인 연구에서 천거안이 연구 자료로 다루어지지 않았다는 점에서 주목된다고 하겠다.
본 연구를 통해서 다음의 연구 성과를 얻을 수 있었다. 1) 역관들에 대한 다양한 정보를 파악할 수 있었다. 역과천거안에는 개인에 관한 사항뿐 아니라 가계에 관한 정보까지 수록되어 있기 때문에 음양관 구성원들에 대한 인적 구성과 요소를 검토할 수 있었다. 2) 기존 역관에 관한 연구는 연대기 자료에서 중인에 관한 내용의 편린을 찾기 어렵기 때문에 주로 과거 합격자 명부인 『역과방목』을 중심으로 연구되어 왔다. 천거안 연구를 통해 대상 자료의 범위를 확대할 수 있었다. 3) 「역과천거안」을 통해서 피천자와 거주(擧主)와의 관계, 역관직의 세전 양상 등 그들의 사회적 성격을 밝힐 수 있었다. 4) 역관 가계의 총체적인 신상 정보를 파악할 수 있는 토대를 마련할 수 있었다. 역관직의 천거 양상 등 그들의 사회적 성격을 밝힐 수 있는 기초 자료이기 때문에 구체적인 역관 가계의 관직 세전 양상, 나아가 기존 신분사 연구에 대해서도 외연을 확장시킬 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Choson dynasty had been a kind of Yangban bureaucrats' society, and the study of it was mostly the study of Yangban ruling class. It was because there had not been so much materials of the status of Jungin, for example Interpreters in the chronicle records. We can catch and know the social status of Interpreters through the Recommendation List, but we did not use it till in the study of social status of Jungin.
Through the analysis of the Recommendation List, we could acquire so much informations on the Interpreters. Because the Recommendation List contains informations from the personal facts on individual to the family lineage, we could know the members(who's who) and their human networks of the family of Translators. By using these informations and human networks as database, from now on, we can do an important study on the family lineages among Interpreters and their social status in the history of the Choson Dynasty.
