A change in the living pattern is happening in the flow of sudden changes of a modern society. That is the development of the communications by internet and the social relationship. Internet is not only the space that can fulfill lacking mental actions within friends in adolescence periods, but also it is used for a meeting place for friends and a place to escape from reality while transcending time and space. According to its equal characteristic not as hierarchic as adults, a friendship in adolescence accelerates social abilities and helps solving problems in social adaptations. Therefore, by investigating such friendships according to sex, school and the levels of internet addiction and the difference in adolescence's online homogeneous and heterogeneous friendships, thee exists a purpose to understand adolescence's friendships and help direct their friendships in a stable and desirable way.
The samples chosen far this research were 319 students(150 males and 169 females) from 8 different co-ed middle and high schools located in Seoul, Korea. The apparatus used for measurements were the quality measure from Lee, Eun-Hae(1999) of friendships which is edited by Nam, Yoon-Ju and the questionnaire for internet addiction that was improved from the measure Young(1996) by Kang, Min-Chul and Oh, Ik-Soo(2000) and developed exclusively oir Korean adolescence were used in order to investigate the levels of internet addiction of adolescence.
The collected data were used by SPSS 10.0 statistic program. In order to find out the samples' demographic background, several factors such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were produced and In order to verify the reliance of the apparatus, each measure's Cronbach's a coefficient was produced. Also, t-test was used to find out if there is a difference in homogeneous and heterogeneous friendships according to sex, school and internet addiction levels.
The results of this study are as follows:
1) After looking at any difference in both online homogeneous and heterogeneous friendships by adolescence's sex, there was a significant difference. For online homogeneous friendships, male students were sensible of conflicts and as well as for heterogeneous friendships, male students were sensible even highly in such areas as mental stability, trust, assistance, recognition, enjoyment of friendship, competition and satisfaction.
2) After looking at any difference in both online homogeneous and heterogeneous friendships by adolescence's grade level, the homogeneous friendships didn't show any signifiant difference, but the heterogeneous friendships did show some distinctive differences.
3) After looking at any difference in both online homogeneous and heterogeneous friendships by adolescence's level of internet addiction, there wasn't any significant difference at all.
