다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was to compare and analyze the content of local television newscasts in Daegu in terms of news uniqueness, topic diversity and news delivery formats. The major findings of the study were: (l) above half of the local news stories offered by the stations were unique to one station; (2) the topics of the whole news stories and the unique stories offered by the stations were diverse; and (3) over 70% of the news stories including unique news were delivered by anchor only. Each additional TV station significantly contributed to the pool of unique and diverse news content televised in a community, but high percentage of anchor-read stories representing low financial commitment may lead to poor market performance.
