      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      Jeong Taejin (丁泰鎭, 1876~1959) is the scholar who continued the tradition of neo-confucianism (理學) of Toegyehak in Yeongnam. He continued Juri (主理)'s scholastic mantle (學統) by Lee Hwang and Lee Jinsang's theory that mind is the principle (心卽理說) by studying under Lee Byeongho (李炳鎬) and Gwak Jongseok (郭鍾錫). He led a life as a neo-confucianist (理學者) until the middle of 20th century and did discussions on neo-confucianism habitually with his colleagues (師友).
      Jeong Taejin played a role of the bridge builder who connected the tradition and modern times of the doctrines of Chu-tzu (朱子學) - Toegyehak to each other by educating students as Lee Gawon (李家源)'s teacher (經師). He did academic activities within the range of the doctrines of Chu-tzu and Toegyehak but argued Silhak(實學) that learning must increase actual profits in ruling the world (經世致用).
      Lee Gawon usually said that he was Gwak Jongseok's discipular students (再傳弟子). It's because Jeong Taejin who was his teacher was Gwak Jongseok's student. Jeong Taejin and Lee Gawon were the scholars that the scholastic mantle after Lee, Hwang were clearly connected in the so-called history of Confucianism (儒學史) in the Joseon Dynasty. Lee Gawon who continued family scholarship (家學) after Lee Hwang studied Chinese classics (經學) under Jeong Taejin from childhood. In addition, he studied academic traditions of increasing actual profits in ruling the world. Jeong Taejin told Lee Gawon that a scholar must set up practical mind (實心), study actual benefits (實理), and practice action (實行) so that he can get closer to Tao (Path: 道) after long periods of time. His teaching like this became the foundation that Lee Gawon studied deep into Silhak Scholar Park Jiwon (朴趾源) who enjoyed telling about Silhak (實學) leading a life of Silhak as a scholar during life in the late Joseon Dynasty.
