    Now more than ever, human society is connected through our concerns over our depleting food, energy, and water resources, along with the increase in unstable weather patterns. In respect of material condition of life, humanity is now in a same boat. The concept of peace has changed to include not only military concerns but non-military concerns as well. In material regard of life, we are in one global community with a common destiny, but in spiritual or philosophical aspect, still remain divided. And symbolically, global warming shows that human civilization is standing at the crossroads of co-existence or perishing. Now west-centrist or western standard is predominant almost all over the world, and the crisis, in which humanity is facing, is inevitable due to the western ideas or philosophy, which is under the paradigm of pluralism. Since the West has struggled to seek way out through western methods, but only to have failed to answer the global crisis, they are now seeking a solution from Eastern philosophy. When referring to the East, Northeast Asian region has leading role and position, and the protagonists of the region are the three main countries: Korea, China, and Japan. To establish peace in Northeast Asia, of course, it is important to resolve conflicts, like North Korea`s nuclear issue, historical and territorial conflicts in this region. However, I think it is much more important to set up peace philosophy that can be shared by the three countries. Since Korea, China, and Japan share a rich history of Eastern philosophy, and have prosperous economy, I believe three countries` role in establishing peace thought for Northeast Asia and humanity is important. In hopes of contributing to the establishment of peace thought, which is desperately needed by the three Northeast Asian countries and humanity, as well as recovering a common foundation of a spiritual civilization between Korea, China, and Japan, the core of Chunson culture, I would like to introduce Hong-ik-in-gan thought. One of the main themes of Hong-ik-in-gan thought, which is the founding ideology of Kochoson, the first country established by Korean people at the ancient age, is universal peace and harmonious coexistence among all the existence on earth. So it is suitable for the age of globalization and close interdependence. And the thought considers man as a miniature universe. A natural consequence of this is the maximum respect for man to the degree that it says man is heaven or God. In addition, in the thought, political values of liberty and equality are harmoniously included, which is the general ideal of humankind. And in this regard, Hong-ik-in-gan thought have potential for being adopted as ideology of peaceful reunification of two Koreas at some stage in the future. In short, I`d like to recommend that at least universal pacifism, respect for man and life, and harmonious constellation of liberty and equality should be taken into consideration in search of peace thought for the Northeast Asia.
