Flight load analysis methods can be divided into ‘Static Maneuver Loads’ and ‘Transient Maneuver Loads’ analysis methods. The static maneuver loads analysis method is a method of calculating the loads for given load factor, attitude angle, angular acceleration, and velocity. Transient maneuver load analysis method is a method of calculating the load by considering variation of maneuver over time using the initial solution obtained through the static maneuver. In this paper, a flight load analysis process using the transient maneuver load analysis method was established. It was then applied to OPPAV to calculate checked pitching maneuver loads. First, aircraft equations of motion were derived and a flight simulation program necessary for the analysis was developed using Matlab/Simulink. Required parameters for static maneuver load analysis using MSC.Flightloads were obtained from simulation. They were then applied to perform the analysis. Based on results of the analysis, loads on the horizontal tail and elevator were calculated and plotted. It was observed that the maximum loads on the horizontal tail and elevator occurred at different time instance, indicating the necessity of transient maneuver load analysis for accurate load estimation.
