다문화 교육의 방향과 문학교육의 효용성 = Direction of Multicultural Education and Effectiveness of Literature Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Multicultural Education which is based on multiculturalism should keep the following three aspects.
First, as a major Korean, they need to re-establish identity of korean culture and themselves'. They have to definitize positive identity of established culture to respect other culture. Assimilation which means absorb another culture only not to keep thier established one and Marginalization which means not to absorb any culture are both wrong. We should pursue intergration : accept another culture actively based on their established one.
Second, Multicultural Education should help heterogeneous population to carry out their work with harmony based on multiculturalism which pursue two goals-difference and integration. For the harmony, existing korean society citizen have to respect newcomers culture who have different cultures. They would go forward to multiculturalism by exuviate existing assimilationism nation-state policy.
Third, We need to re-establish new identity by negotiate with newcomers diverse culture, not to just accept new culture but to create new value and culture by that negotiation. Therefore, Multicultural Education would progress toward new understandings of present korean society problem by appreciate diverse cultures' existance and identity.
Thus, it is a true education through literature which reflects multiculturalism to understand and conduct these three ways of Multicultural Education. We could comprehend emigrants' reality and gain the sympathy of their lives by read and create literature with multiculturalism reflections, because a literature can raise proper awareness of cultural difference and diversity to the readers by reflects various cultural circumstances. Readers could cultivate the art of think independently and extend their experiences. Finally, the readers could learn multiculturalism and the skills of understanding diverse cultures and sympathizing with them by read those literatures.
