중학교 사회과교육과정 공민교육 내용의 변천 = The transition in contents of citizen area in the middle school social studies curriculum

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 지난 60여 년 간 중학교 사회과교육과정 공민교육 내용의 변천을 탐색하여 미래의 내용은 어떻게 선정 • 조직되어야 바람직한가를 찾아보려는 목적으로 이루어졌다. 향후 사회과교육과정 개정시에는 다음과 같은 점을 고려하여 공민영역의 내용을 선정 • 조직할 것을 제안한다. 우선，공민영역은 지리 • 역사영역과의 연계성과 통합성을 고려하면서，생활주변의 사회현상 파악뿐만 아니라 각 지역，국가, 세계의 사회현상 파악 및 문제해결에 이를 수 있도록 조직해야 한다. 둘째, 공민영역의 기본개념 및 핵심 아이디어를 학습자의 시 • 공간의식의 발달과 연계하여 배열하여야 한다. 아울러 국지적, 지역적，국가적, 그리고 지구적 내용 간의 균형 및 과거, 현재，미래와 관련된 내용 간의 균형도 추구할 수 있도록 한다. 셋째，공민교육의 목표, 주제의 특성에 따라 내용의 분량과 비율이 적절히 선정 • 조직되어야 한다. 공민교육 내용은 목표와의 연관성, 각 주제의 특성과 이해가능성 등을 고려해 내용의 분량과 방식을 적절히 조정해야 한다. 넷째，공민교육 내용은 학생의 홍미와 요구 및 관심을 실질적으로 반영하여 선정 • 조직되어야 한다. 마지막으로 사회과의 내용 구조에서는 현대사회 문제해결을 위한 학문 간의 통합적 지식의 요구에 따라 보다 통합된 사회과를 지향하되, 고학년으로 갈수록 학문의 특성도 살리는 방향으로 조직해야 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to discover and list out the transition in contents of citizen area in the middle-school social studies curriculum during the past 60 years. Following this discovery and enumeration will be a detailed explanation for better ways in which to organize and present the curriculum of the future. It has been suggested to select and construct the contents of the citizen area after considering followings when the curriculum of a subject of social studies needs to be changed in the future. First of all, citizen area should be constructed by considering connections and integrations that exist between geography and history area so that the social phenomena not only around our lives but also in respective regions, nations, and world can be grasped and the problems caused by those phenomena can be solved. Second, the basic concepts and the key ideas of a citizen area should be arranged linking with the development of learner's time and space perception. Also the balance between local, regional, national, and global contents and the balance between contents regarding the past, the present and the future should be pursued. Third, the quantity and the ratio of the contents of civil education in accordance with its goal and topic characteristic should properly be selected and constructed. The contents of citizen education should be properly adjusted in terms of quantity and approach in consideration of a link with goal, the characteristics of each topic and the possibility of understanding. Fourth, the contents of civil education should be selected and constructed in a virtual reflection of students' interests, demands and curiosities. Lastly, in terms of content structure, more integrated subject of social studies should be pursued in accord with the demand integrative knowledge between sciences in order to solve the many problems of modem society. Also, the contents should be organized in the way that the characteristics of science are also emphasized as the grades advance.
