Abstract
Pietism's Traces in the Life and Writings of Bonhoeffer

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was consistently influenced by Pietism throughout his life. The piety he pursued also shows similarities with Pietism, and the influence of Pietism on him is undeniable. However, his writings simultaneously feature consistent critiques of Pietism. The background for Bonhoeffer's critique of Pietism can be found in Karl Barth's understanding of religion. This paper also addresses the critique of Pietist groups and churches that succumbed to the Nazis during that period.
While there are clear differences between Bonhoeffer and Pietism, similarities also exist. Furthermore, the communal life Bonhoeffer established with the brothers at the Finkenwalde House of Brotherhood suggests a new monastic model and a new form of spiritual discipline (or piety training). It was, in effect, a practical setting developed in pursuit of overcoming Pietism.
Based on these points, this paper examines the piety Bonhoeffer pursued during a time of crisis and, through this, seeks to offer reflective suggestions regarding the piety of Christians living in the present age.

디트리히 본회퍼는 그의 생애 중에 경건주의의 영향을 꾸준히 받아왔다. 그가 추구하는 경건성에도 경건주의와의 유사점이 등장하며, 경건주의의 영향을 받았음을 부정할 수 없다. 그러나 동시에 그의 저서들에서는 경건주의 비판이 꾸준히 등장한다. 본회퍼가 경건주의를 비판한 배경은 칼 바르트의 종교 이해에서 찾을 수 있으며, 그 시절 나치에 굴복한 경건주의 단체와 교회에 대한 비판도 본 논문에서 다루었다.
분명 본회퍼과 경건주의 사이에는 분명한 차이점이 있지만, 동시에 유사점 역시 존재한다. 또한 본회퍼가 핑켄발데 형제의 집에서 형제들과 함께 이루어간 공동생활은 새로운 수도원 방식, 새로운 경건훈련을 시사하며, 곧 그 시절 드러났던 경건주의의 문제점들 극복을 모색하여 마련한 실제적인 현장이다.
본 논문은 이러한 내용을 토대로 위기의 시절에 본회퍼가 추구한 경건성에 대해 살펴보며, 이를 통해 현 시대를 살아가는 그리스도인들의 경건성에 대해 반성적으로 제언하고자 한다.
