다문화 무용교육의 현황과 과제 연구 = A study on the status and task of mulicultural dance education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As of January, 2013, the number of foreigners living in Seoul is 1,445,631 persons, taking 2.8% of the entire population. In the course of becoming a multicultural society, while the central and local governments are leading policy supports, doubts about effectiveness and appropriateness of policy have been continuously raised. The recent criticisms and renunciation on multicultural policies in Europe suggest meaningful issues for Koreans having high pride as a homogeneous race. Breaking away from the assimilationism, a new policy model should be established to form a pluralistic multicultural society. This study aims to find alternatives from the dance education that enables non-verbal communications. Unlike existing Korean language educations and traditional cultural educations that have been recognizing the multiculture as a specific social class or subject to be managed, the dance education has advantages of inducing mutual respects and communications without discriminating between the main and non-main streams. Therefore, this study investigates ways to have the dance education adapted into the multicultural policy currently implemented by public institutions. Also, this is intended to propose a new educational direction pursuing interactive cultural exchanges while maintaining each individual`s identity. And this is also the vision of dance education to be pursued not only for any multicultural society, but for a human society.
