    We have studied the strength and bonding characteristics of the needle punching laminated nonwovens(NPN) produced form polyester webs prepunched under different processing conditions, such as punching density and the number of layers. The characteristics investigated were tensile, tearing and peeling strength and surface roughness of NPLN fabrics. The tensile and tearing strength of NPLN fabrics generally increased with increasing number of layers and punching density. But their strengths slightly decreased above punching densities of 400 punches/$\textrm{cm}^2$ because of fiber breakage during the laminating process. Also, the peeling strength showed a similar trend as tensil and tearing results. It was found that the surface roughness varied with punching density and depended on the layer position of NPLN fabrics.
