소규모 중학교 역도부 지도교사의 경험에 대한 자문화기술지 = An Autoethnographic Study of a Teacher-Coach’s Experience with a Weightlifting Team at a Small Middle School

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 소규모 중학교 역도부 지도교사의 경험에 대한 이야기에 초점을 두고 학교운동부의 현재를 이해하고 앞으로 나아가야 할 방향에 대해 자문화기술지를 통해 살펴보고자 하였다. 2024년 1년 동안 운동부를 지도하면서 작성한 나의 노트, 기억 자료, 구성원들과의 대화 등을 자료로 수집하고 귀납적 범주 분석을 실시하여 선수선발의 어려움, 소년체전을 위한 운동부, 운동의 벽과 새로운 시작을 연구 결과로 도출하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 성과 지상주의가 초래하는 실적 압박과 교육적 가치 사이의 충돌을 분석하고, 나아가 역도 너머의 삶을 지원하는 지도교사의 역할 변화에 대해 고찰하였다. 이러한 성찰적 기록이 학교운동부 지도교사들의 실천적 지혜를 돕고, 학교운동부의 발전적인 변화를 위한 기초 자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.

The purpose of this study was to explore the lived experience of a teacher-coach of an unpopular sports team at a small middle school and examine the current state of school sports teams and future direction through an autoethnographic approach. Drawing on personal field notes, reflective memories, and conversations with members while leading the sports team for one year in 2024, the study employed inductive thematic analysis to examine challenges related to player recruitment, participation in the National Junior Sports Festival, and students’ barriers to engagement in sports. Moreover, this study analyzed the conflict between performance pressure driven by a results-oriented culture and fundamental educational values. The analysis highlights the evolving role of the teacher-coach, shifting from a performance-centered manager to a supportive mentor attentive to students’ broader lives beyond weightlifting. This autoethnographic account offers practical insights for teacher-coaches working with school athletic clubs and provides foundational qualitative data for facilitating developmental changes within school sports systems.
