현대예배의 갱신 과제 소고 : 전인적 참여와 삶의 형성을 위한 대화 구조 회복

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 현대예배의 현상을 이해하고 그 특징을 분석하며, 지속적인 갱신을 위해 고려할 과제를 고찰하는 데 주력한다. 1960년대 초반부터 촉발된 예배갱신 운동은 예배자들이 예배 실천에 더욱 전인적이고 적 극적으로 참여할 수 있는 다양한 방안들을 모색하고 제시하는 데 주력 해오고 있다. 예배 구조와 구성 방식들은 예배자들의 문화를 수용하고 그 문화적 요청에 따른 대안 또는 대응으로 결정하는 경향이 강하다. 이런 이유로 현대예배는 예배와 문화의 관계를 반영하는 것을 넘어서 서 예배의 문화화를 제시하는 사례들로 나타난다. 다양하고 새로운 표 현들의 문화 수용 방식으로 주어지는 현대예배는 음악과 기술에 의존 하면서 예배자들의 참여와 신앙 형성에 직접적인 영향을 미친다. 곧, 문화를 수용하는 예배보다는 문화가 주도하는 예배를 이끌고 예배자들 의 예배 경험과 신앙 형성에 새로운 특징들을 제시한다. 새로운 예배에 끊임없이 몰입하게 하고, 이해와 깨달음 또는 감정적 만족과 충족이라 는 근대성의 세계관을 반영한다. 이러한 현대예배는 전통의 가치와 신 비 또는 상징으로 제시되는 하나님의 임재에 경외로 반응하고 참여하 는 방식을 제한시키고, 전인적 참여로서의 예배를 기대 충족과 만족 그 리고 이성과 감정의 제한된 경험으로 축소하기도 한다. 현대예배가 예 배자들의‘전인적이고 적극적인 참여’를 위해 갱신을 지속하는 과정에서 고려할 과제는 문화 수용의 적극적인 노력과 함께 인격으로서의 전 인적 참여, 예배의 대화 구조 강화와 회복, 그리고 만족과 기대의 충족 을 넘어선 삶의 형성을 이끌어내는 예배 실천을 추구하는 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article attempts to reflect the ongoing issues and tasks of contemporary worship renewal. Worship renewal movement since Vatican Council II has been seeking the ways of promoting the worshipers to consciously, fully, and actively participate in the service. By stressing inculturation, contemporary worship has been developing and articulating the structure and components of the service of public worship as liturgical responses to contemporary culture. At the same time, as various and fresh expressions of liturgical integration of culture, contemporary worship tends to merely new style of service and highly depends on music and high-technology shaping the worshipers in strong and significant ways. These liturgical engagements and responses to contemporary culture has also been leading the contemporary worshipers to fulfillment of their intellectual or emotional expectations as an ideal vision of modern worldview. In this way, contemporary worship has unintentionally brought about an weakening of beyond-rational and emotional liturgical experience of the mystery and symbol as a sign of limiting full and active participation in worship. In this liturgical context of worship renewal, contemporary worship could continue renewing the service by considering people’s embodied participation in the technology and digital based worship, recovering the conversational structure of worship between God and people in the emphasis of worship performance, and reflecting the formative function of worship beyond intellectual and emotional fulfillment and satisfaction as ruling principle of the service of worship.
