한국 환경운동의 담론: 낭만주의와 합리주의 = Environmental Discourse, Romanticism and Rationalism

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article aims to analyse the discourse of environmental movements in South Korea. I categorized 4 ideal type discourses in terms of the transformation of industrialism and rationalism. We can find out ecological authoritarianism, sustainable development. green romanticism, and green rationalism. This article focuses on the discourse of green rationalism which means the transformation of industrialism on the basis of ecological rationality. Green rationalism is discursive and non discursive practice which aims to develop ecological rationality on the basis of ecological modernization and ecological democracy.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 우리나라 환경운동의 담론을 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 우리나라의 환경담론을 산업주의 유지/변형, 그리고 낭만주의/합리주의를 기준으로 분류하고 그 특성을 분석했다. 이 두 기준을 갖고 분석하면 우리나라 환경담론은 생태권위주의, 지속가능발전론, 녹색 낭만주의, 그리고 녹색 합리주의로 나눌 수 있었다. 이 글은 합리주의적인 방식으로 산업주의를 녹색으로 변형하려는 담론으로서 녹색합리주의에 관심을 집중하고 그 담론을 발전시킬 수 있는 핵심 개념으로서 ‘강한 생태적 근대화’와 ‘생태 민주주의’를 검토한다. 녹색 합리주의는 숙의 민주주의를 발전시킨 생태 민주주의의 절차와 제도를 통해 성찰적 생태적 근대화를 발전시켜 생태적 합리성을 높이고자 하는 담론이자 실천이다. 녹색 합리주의자는 올바른 숙의 과정이 공론장에서 지속되면 사회적 학습능력이 높아지고 장기적으로 생태적 합리성도 높아질 것이라고 본다.
