공감개념의 탐색: 다학문적 접근 = Exploration of Empathy Concept: Multidisciplinary Approach

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the theis study is to understand and establish a concept of empathy in counseling/psychotherapy. To achieve this purpose.
1) The concept of empathy and several related concepts were examined.
2) The research findings of empathy in developmental psychology were examined.
3) The research findings of empathy in social psychology were examined.
4) The research findings of empathy in counseling/psychotherapy were examined.
The results of this research were as followings.
1) The concepts of empathy in developmental and social psychology were inner experience and vicarious emotional response. But the concepts of empathy in counseling/psychotherapy were communication skill expressing inner experience.
2) Empathy as inner experience was composed of cognitive and affective components. But empathy as counseling/psychotheraputic skill were composed of cognitive, affective and communication components.
3) There two processes in empathy. One was unconcious and spontaneous response process and the other concious and intentional response process. These two processes were taken place spontaneously.
4) There core of empathy was effective factor as emotional sharing process. This factor is innate. Therefore it should be considered on choosing counselor.
5) The empathy training program for counselor and psychotherapist must include cognitive, affective and communicational components.
6) The studies on relationship between altruistic behavior and empathy were related to sympathy, not empathy.
