전통 수공업 장인의 학습 과정과 특성에 관한 질적 사례 연구 = A Qualitative Case Study of Handicraftsmen’s Workplace Learning

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the handicraftsmen’s workplace learning. In-depth interviews were conducted with three craftsmen in Korea. The results of this study are summarized as follows.
First, although they took their job for various reasons, they developed their job as a real vocation. Second, to obtain their job skills, more knowledgeable help was needed from others but self-directed experience learning was more important. Third, through weak links with other people, they made their own identities and characteristics. Forth, they have learned through their materials and tools. Finally, through creative learning activities, they had created new traditions and are continuously trying to achieve expansive learning at their own workplace.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 전통 수공업 분야 장인들을 대상으로 그들이 일터에서 보여 주는 배움의 과정과 특성에 관해 기술하는 것이다. 이를 위해 도자기, 손뜨개, 한복 등 전통 수공업 분야의 장인들을 대상으로 심층 면담과 함께 여러 각도에서 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 장인이 일터에 진입하게 된 계기는 필연적인 경우부터 우연적인 경우까지 다양하였다. 하지만 그 일에서 성장해 나가는 과정에서 자신의 재능과 노력을 통해 천직으로서 발전시켜나갔다. 둘째, 일터에 진입하여 숙련을 형성하는데 있어서 스승의 가르침이 필수적이었지만, 자기 주도적인 경험학습이 더 크게 나타났다. 셋째, 일터에서 독립적으로 일을 수행하는 특성상 여러 외부 세계와의 느슨한 관계망을 통해 그들과 자신을 차별화하는 형태로 학습이 이루어졌다. 이와 동시에, 넷째, 장인들은 자신이 사용하는 도구나 재료들과의 교감을 통해서도 학습을 하고 있었다. 다섯째, 일터와 삶의 구분이 모호한 가운데 삶에서의 에너지를 바탕으로 창의적 배움 활동을 수행함으로써 전통을 새롭게 창조해 나가고 있었다. 마지막으로, 장인들은 일터에서 새로운 시도와 도전을 멈추지 않고 틀 바꾸기를 통한 확장적 학습을 지속해 나가고 있었다.
