대학과 현장의 협력 프로그램에서 예비유아교사 지원하기 : 교육실습지도교수의 실행연구 = Supporting Early Childhood Preservice Teachers in a School-University Partnership Program: A Teaching Supervisor's Action Research

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 대학과 현장의 협력 프로그램에서 예비교사를 지원하기 위해 대학에서 파견한 실습지도교수(teaching supervisor)의 역할을 찾고자 하는 것이다. 이 연구를 위해 미국 동남부의 예비교사 양성대학에 소속된 예비교사 6명을 대상으로 12주간 실행연구가 이루어졌다. 실습기간 동안 예비교사들의 전문성 향상을 위하여 현장의 교육활동들을 지원하면서 처음에는 각 예비교사의 요구를 이해하고 실습담임교사와 신뢰관계를 구축하는 데 있어서 어려움이 있었다. 그러나 하나의 목표를 가지고 서로 팀이 되어 의견을 나누고 의사결정을 할 수 있도록 보다 구체적인 활동을 구조화하였는데 이는 예비교사가 실제 교실 상황에서 자신감을 가지고 아이들을 가르치는 데 큰 도움이 되었으며 동료 교사와 협력하는 기회를 가질 수 있었다. 이와 같이 한 학기 동안의 실습이 예비교사들에게 어떤 영향을 미치는지 관찰하고 반성하면서 대학과 현장의 협력을 도와주는 실습지도교수의 역할이 실습의 전 과정에서 매우 중요하며 감독자, 평가자만이 아닌 바람직한 안내자이자 조력자가 되어야 함을 알게 되었다.

The purpose of this study was to explore the roles of a teaching supervisor from the university played in supporting student teachers in a school-university partnership program. This action research involved seven student teachers in a preservice teacher education program of the southeastern United States for 12 weeks. In the beginning, it was difficult to understand the needs of each student teacher and build good relationships with mentor teachers. To improve this, I structured many activities and discussed the process using teamwork. This was helpful in that student teachers felt more confident in teaching children and had many chances to cooperate with peer student teachers. Observing and reflecting on how student teaching influenced preservice teachers, I realized that the functions performed by teaching supervisors - which include not just supervision and evaluation, but also guidance and support - are crucial throughout the entireprocess of student teaching.
