부모의 심리적 통제가 청소년의 내재화 문제 및 외현화 문제에 미치는 영향 : 도덕적 이탈의 조절효과 검증 = Influence of Parental Psychological Control on Adolescents’ Internalizing and Externalizing Problematic Behaviors: The Moderating Effect of Moral Disengagement

The purpose of this study was twofold. One was to investigate the relationship among parental psychological control, moral disengagement and adolescents’ problematic behaviors. The other was to test the moderating effect of moral disengagement on the relationship between parental psychological control and adolescents’ problematic behaviors.
The research questions were as follows. First, what are the associations between parental psychological control and both internalizing and externalizing problematic behaviors in adolescents? Second, does adolescents’ moral disengagement have a moderating effect in the relationship between parental psychological control and both internalizing and externalizing problematic behaviors?
The participants of this study consisted of 275 first and second year high school students recruited from a high school located in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. To analyze the aforementioned relationship between the main variables and measured variables, a correlation analysis was conducted using the SPSS 21.0 program. In addition, the AMOS 21.0 program was used to test the proposed moderating effect of moral disengagement.
The main results are as follows. First, parental psychological control was positively associated with both internalizing and externalizing problematic behaviors in adolescents. Second, adolescents’ moral disengagement and adolescents’ problematic behaviors showed a significant, positive correlation. Third, adolescents’ moral disengagement moderates significantly the relationship between parental psychological control and externalizing (but not internalizing) problematic behaviors in adolescents.
In conclusion, parental psychological control and adolescents’ moral disengagement were found to be risk factors for internalizing and externalizing problematic behaviors in adolescents. Moreover, adolescents’ moral disengagement were found to augment the negative impact of parental psychological control on externalizing problematic behaviors of them.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 부모의 심리적 통제, 도덕적 이탈, 청소년의 내재화 및 외현화 문제 간의 관련성을 확인하고, 부모의 심리적 통제와 청소년의 내재화 및 외현화 문제 간의 관계에서 도덕적 이탈의 조절효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 경기도 고양시에 위치한 일반계 고등학교 1, 2학년 남⋅녀 학생 275명을 대상으로 부모의 심리적 통제, 청소년의 문제, 도덕적 이탈에 대한 설문을 실시하여 수집된 자료를 분석에 활용하였다. 주요변인들 및 측정변인들 간의 관련성을 살펴보기 위해 SPSS 21.0 프로그램을 이용하여 상관분석을 실시하였으며, 부모의 심리적 통제와 자녀의 내재화 및 외현화 문제의 관계에서 도덕적 이탈의 조절효과를 검증하기 위해 AMOS 21.0 프로그램을 이용하여, Marsh 등(2004)이 제안한 비제약적 방법으로 분석하였다. 또한, 종속변인인 내재화 문제 및 외현화 문제에 대해 부모의 심리적 통제와 도덕적 이탈의 상호작용 항이 유의한지 확인하기 위해 단순기울기 검증을 실시하였다.
분석결과 첫째, 부모의 심리적 통제는 청소년의 내재화 및 외현화 문제와 정적인 상관이 있었고 둘째, 도덕적 이탈은 청소년의 내재화 및 외현화 문제와 정적인 상관이 있었으며 셋째, 도덕적 이탈이 부모의 심리적 통제와 청소년의 외현화 문제 간의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 확인되었다.
결론적으로, 부모의 심리적 통제, 도덕적 이탈은 청소년의 내재화 및 외현화 문제를 발생시키는 위험요인으로 작용하므로, 청소년의 문제 행동에 대한 접근 시 문제의 원인을 청소년에게만 집중하기 보다는 부모의 양육방식과 부모-자녀와의 관계에 대한 파악을 동시에 진행할 필요가 있음을 시사한다. 또한, 부모의 심리적 통제가 청소년의 외현화 문제에 미치는 부정적인 영향을 도덕적 이탈이 강화하는 효과가 있으므로 학교교육이나 또래관계를 통해 도덕적 이탈의 수준을 낮게 유지하는 것이 청소년의 외현적 문제를 예방하는데 도움이 될 것이다.
