The use of paraprofessionals was first officially suggested in a Special Education Development Plan, which was initiated in 2003 and will continue through 2007 in South Korea. The plan was devised by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MOE), and is aimed at promoting the opportunities of inclusive education for children with disabilities and enhancing the quality of special education. The purpose of this survey was to identify paraprofessionals expectation in regard with their role, responsibility, training, supervision, and satisfaction to start this job position for working in general elementary and middle school, and special school. The majority of the 77 participants of this survey revealed their high expectation about their role, supervision, and respects as a member of the educational community. Suggestions for future research and implications for special and general education teachers preservice and inservice were discussed.
