13 Cases of scaphoid nonunion had been treated by original Matti-Russe procedure and followed up more than 2 years, from September 1990 to September 1993, at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Chung Nam National University Hospital.
The results were as follows ;
1. Scaphoid nonunion occurs between 21 to 40 years of age( 13 cases ) and 13 cases were all male.
2. Most commonly, the site of fracture were confined to middle one third in 9 cases( 69 %), and fracture line were transverse in 6 cases( 46% ).
3. Radiological union was obtained with DISI deformity correction and normalization of intrascaphoid angle in all cases.
4. The result of treatment were excellent in 8 cases( 61%), good in 4 cases( 31%) and fair in 1 case( 8%)
