In this paper, we propose a position error compensation method for a step motor controlled by micro-step algorithm. Generally, the shape of developed torque of a step motor is not pure sine wave, but has some harmonic components. Due to the harmonics of developed torque, a step motor controlled by micro-step algorithm can have some position error. In this paper, we first present position error analysis for a step motor driven by micro-step controller. Then, to enhance position control accuracy, we propose a
position error compensation method based on the error analysis. Our method is computationally simple
and can be easily implemented using a microprocessor.
