Wi-Fi Direct 기반 스마트 홈 환경을 위한 사용자 중심 그룹 형성 기법 = An User-Centric Group Formation Scheme for Smart Home Environments based on Wi-Fi Direct

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문에서는 Wi-Fi Direct 표준을 기반으로 사용자 중심 그룹 형성 기법을 적용한 스마트 홈 네트워크 구축 방안을 제시한다. Wi-Fi Direct 기술은 디바이스 간의 그룹 형성을 통해 P2P 통신을 지원하는 기술로써, 그룹 오너 중심의 스타형 토폴로지를 갖는다. 기존의 Wi-Fi Direct 표준에서는 그룹 형성 단계에 의해 선정된 그룹 오너를 변경하려면 기존 그룹을 해체한 후에야 (즉, 그룹 재형성 과정에 의해) 새로운 오너를 뽑을 수 있기 때문에 상당한 오버헤드를 수반하게 된다. 이러한 그룹 재형성 과정에서 지연 또한 발생되는데, 이는 새로운 기기들이 서로의 기기 발견 및 서비스 발견 단계를 거쳐 연결될 수 있기 때문이다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 “사용자 중심의 그룹 형성 기법”을 제안한다. 이 기법은 새로운 그룹 오너가, 사전에 임시 그룹 오너로 설정된 홈 네트워크 에이전트로부터 그룹 클라이언트들에 관한 정보를 얻도록 함으로써 보다 신속한 그룹 형성을 가능토록 한다. 제안 기법의 성능 평가를 위해 ns-3 네트워크 시뮬레이션(NS-3) 결과가 제시된다.

In this paper, we propose an idea for constructing smart home networks that is based on a user-centric group formation scheme with Wi-Fi Direct standards. The Wi-Fi Direct is a technology for supporting P2P communications via a group formation between devices and it has a group owner centric star topology. In the existing Wi-Fi Direct standards, it may result in the significant overhead to change any group owner who has been selected by a group formation phase because a new owner can be chosen only after deconstructing the existing group (i.e., by a group re-formation process). Such a group re-construction process also causes a delay as this process requires device and service discovery phases, by which newly discovered devices can be connected each other. To solve this problem, the paper presents a “user-centric group formation scheme,” by which a new group owner can make a group construction faster because the new owner is assumed to get the information about group clients from a home network agent, who was pre-set up as a temporary group owner. Simulation results using ns-3 are presented for evaluating the performance of the proposed scheme.
