The main purposes of this study were to investigate the effects of a dance activity program on the depression symptom of college students with disabilities and thus to help them build a habit of wellness-based life to lead a life with an active attitude toward college life and positive ego and emotions. Total 11 female college students with disabilities were cluster sampled in S Women`s College. A pre-test was conducted with all the participants one week before a dance activity program. One week after the completion of the program, a post-test was conducted with the same procedure and content as the pre-test. The participants who seemed to go through rapid changes to life habits during the experiment were excluded from data analysis. A dance activity program was applied over ten sessions, each of which lasted 30~60 minutes and proceeded in three stages of preparation activities, topic activities, and arrangement and discussion. All data were statistically applied with SPSS 12.0 and paired t-test were used. As a result, the college students with disabilities showed a decrease in the cognitive, physiological and self-abuse depression factor with no statistically significant differences and in the emotional depression factor with significant differences (p<.05). In summary, a dance activity program for college students with disabilities can be effective for reducing their depression symptom.
