Web 자원 목록을 통한 주제게이트웨이 서비스에 관한 연구 = A study on the Web resource cataloging for subject gateway services

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현재 인터넷 상에서는 초보자이건 전문가이건 원하는 사람이면 누구나 Web을 통해 출판할 수 있는 환경이기 때문에 Web 정보의 품질에 대한 옥석이 구분되어 있지 않은 상태이다. 품질이 보장된 정보원을 이용한다는 것은 이용자들의 검색시간을 절약하게 해주는데, 기존의 사용검색엔진은 만족스럽지 못하다. 전문가들이 IP로 참여하는 주제게이트웨이에 소개된(품질이 관리된) 정보원을 검색하게 되면 정보에 대한 신뢰성, 타당성에 대하여 의심할 필요가 없게 된다. 주제 게이트웨이는 전통적인 도서관 정보서비스 업무를 근거로 개발되는 것으로 현재 인터넷 이용시 혼란스러운 상태에서 보다 현명한 방법으로 원하는 정보를 보다 신속하게 찾도록 하기 위한 전문 포털사이트(portal site)이다. 본 연구를 통해 바람직한 주제 게이트웨이의 활용사례를 제시하고 바람직한 모형을 소개하여, 국내학술 연구기관들이 정보 서비스현장에서 활용할 수 있도록 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Many academic libraries and insritutions are needed to help their users discover high quality information on the Internet in a quick and effective way. Researchers and academics do not always have the time, skills to surf the Internet for resources that could support their work. As Internet publishing and communication become more commonplace this could disadvantage some researchers as they will miss valuable information resources. Therefore, in the Europe and America, there are a number of different models for setting up and running gateways among academic societies. The technology behind these gateways vary considerable by academic subjects. However quality information gateways all have key similarities that make them invaluable resources to their respective user communities.
In the traditional information environment human intermediaries, such as publishers and librarians, futer and process information so that users can search catalogues and indexes of organised knowledge as opposed to raw data and disparate information. On the same principle, subject gateways employ subject experts and information professionals to select, classify and catalogue Internet resources to aid search and retrieval for their users. A description of each resource is provided to help academics assess its orgin, content and nature, enabling them to decide if it is worth investigating further.
This study is to introduce the role of information gateway, and importance of quality information on the web, and suggest the ideal Korean model for organizing the quality information resources after analysing the model sites which are developed already in the western academic societies. Informarion Gateways are getting a well established feature on the Internet for academics.
