『십초시(十抄詩)』를 통해 본 나말여초(羅末麗初) 한시 수용 양상 = The aspect of accepting the Chinese poetry between Late Shilla and early Goryeo through ShibChoSi(十抄詩)

This paper aimes to first investigate the characters of ShibChoSi(十抄詩) as selected poem books. In ShibChoSi which was published by an unknown editor in early Goryeo(高麗) dynasty are contained the poems in seven word style of Chinese verse by 30 mid and late Dang(唐) dynasty poets including 4 Shilla(新羅) people. It contains 300 poems by selecting 10 poems from each of 30 poets. We compared the rules of versification of those poems with those of other late Dang dynasty poems. As a result we verified that there is not much difference in the two rules. Next for the characteristics of the contents in those poems in ShibChoSi we find that they have the social and interacting characters among intellectuals of the times. This kind of characteristic of the contents is seen as the customary usage of the seven word style poems at that time. Here we reconsidered especially the relationship between ShibChoSi and Gwageo (科擧, state examination for the high ranking public officials). Up to now the purpose of compiling ShibChoSi was vaguely inferred as related to Gwageo in early Goryeo, but that inference doesn`t seem valid because the subject of Gwageo at that time was mainly five word style poems. Further the purpose of ShibChoSi is seen to prepare the newly appointed officials from Gwageo for the socially interacting poems in the royal feasts or in the meetings of intellectuals. The 40 verses of the four Shilla poets contained in it follow the obvious character of social and interacting nature of ShibChoSi. Therefore the principal motivation for accepting Chinese poems in late Shilla and early Goryeo times is seen to use them to enter the public offices. As a result the literary achievement of Chinese poems of Shilla in ShibChoSi is inherently limited. On the other hand with all the above limitations we cannot deny the literary significance of ShibChoSi which shows the historic starting point of the Chinese poems in Korea by accepting the genre of Chinese poems. The existence of the material itself not only shows the early aspect of the history in the Sino-Korean poems but also the acceptance and application of the newly imported style of Chinese poems and the historic development of the literary enjoyment with it.
