This paper investigated what the art education for young children is, and analyzed the type and characteristics according to the scholars' views on the two-dimensional representation and three-dimensional representation to understand the art representationin early childhood which is an important period. In addition, this paper intended to help the educators of the art in early childhood by investigating the process of how the two-dimensional representation, three-dimensional representation and emotional representation of young children develop as they get older.
Art is an important means for immature young children to represent themselves, and the art education that takes place at this time helps them in representing their thoughts and developing their creativity. In addition, art is very important in respect that it makes the lives of young children pleasant and beautiful in the distant future by raising a new prospective of looking at the world by developing their visual perception. Hobert Read and Lowenfeld showed a similar but different view on how the representations of young children appear psychologically, and Eisner generalized seven different characteri-----stics about the development of art representations that put the studies on art together. The majorfeatures shown in the two-dimensional representation are separated into thirteen ones, and the unique features of the three-dimensional representation that suits the characteristics of the clay which is similar to the two-dimensional representation and still a three-dimensional material can be seen. In addition, the analysis on the steps that are taken for the development of art education for young children by age in the two-dimensional representation and three-dimensional representation can be helpful in ensuring appropriate education in an appropriate time, and the appreciation education that is not still active in the field of actual education can be easily accessible by investigating the view of Parsons and Gardner about the development process of the appreciation area which was introduced in the 6th kindergarten curriculum.
To know why art is important to young children and what representations appear psychologically, through what process such representations develop and what meaningful development is shown in the development process by putting the theories of various scholars and the education made in the actual education site together is important to the educators of the art in early childhood for their suitable and effective guidance in the appropriate time.
