팸플릿 캠페인으로서 루터의 16세기 독일 프로테스탄트 개혁 : 종교적 권위에 대한 견해 차이에 따른 상반된 미디어 전략과 결과 = Luther’s Reformation in Germany as the First Large-Scale Media Campaign in the West from the Perspective of the Re-Formation of Religious Authority

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 루터의 프로테스탄트 개혁을 팸플릿 캠페인으로 규정하면서 미디어의 관점에서 분석했다. 특히 1518년부터 1525년까지의 시기를 중심으 로 루터 및 프로테스탄트 측과 가톨릭 측이 종교적 권위에 대해 서로 다른 관점 을 취했고, 이것이 미디어를 대하는 태도 및 미디어 전략에 영향을 미쳤고, 그에 따라 상반된 결과가 나왔다는 점에 초점을 맞춰 고찰했다. 구체적인 연구 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 루터 및 프로테스탄트 측과 가톨릭 측 사이에 벌어진 미디어 캠페인의 형세를 살펴보았다. 둘째, 이 미디어 캠페인에서 루터와 프로 테스탄트 측이 우세할 수 있었던 원인을 교황과 로마교회의 권위에 도전하는 루터의 메시지와 그가 전략적으로 사용하는 미디어 간의 밀접한 상응에 주목하 여 고찰하고, 그 결과를 기술했다. 셋째, 가톨릭 측의 미진한 대응의 원인을 교황과 로마교회의 권위를 방어하는 메시지와 이에 적합하지 않은 미디어 간의 불상응이 초래한 딜레마에 주목하여 분석했다. 그리고 이로 인해 초래된 결과 를 서술했다. 결론에서 간단하게나마 이러한 연구내용이 한국 개신교회에 던 지는 시사점을 제시했다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzes Luther’s Protestant Reformation from the per- spective of media, defining it as a pamphlet campaign. Focusing on the period from 1518 to 1525, this paper highlights the differences in the perspectives of Luther and his followers from those of Catholics on religious authority, which influenced their disparate attitudes to- ward media and media strategies, and draws out their respective consequences. This study first reviews the state of the media cam- paigns of Luther and his followers versus those of the Catholics. Second, it examines the close correspondence between Luther’s mes- sage challenging the authority of the Pope and the Roman Church and the media he strategically used to understand why Luther and the Protestants were able to prevail in this media campaign. Third, it ana- lyzes the cause of the lackluster response by the Roman Church by concentrating on the dilemma arising from the mismatch between the message defending the authority of the Pope and the Roman Church and the unsuitable media that were used to transmit it. Finally, the results are described and the implications of this study for Korean Protestant churches are briefly presented.
