국제 장애인 스포츠의 변천 과정과 IPC 의 역할 = A Historical Review of International Sports for the Handicapped : Focus on The Roles of International Paralympic Committee ( IPC )

This study is to varify roles of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) within recently 5 decades history of international sports for the handicapped.
Since Dr. Ludwig Gutmann founded the Special Olympic Games in mid of 20 centry, sport games for the handicapped have developped in both quality and quantity. An unique philosophy of the sport games was identified. The organization of games were massively increased for the 5 decades. Among many historical events of sport games for the handicapped, the establishment of IFC should be a milestone to add rapid development of the games.
Roles of the IPC can be identified as: constrution of rules and guidelines for many types of events activating IPC sub-committee; promoting many sport events for the handicapped atheletes who prepare to participate in the Special Olympic Games; re-organizing sub-committee of the Special Olympic Games; developing marketing plans to help undevelopped countries' educational programs; and providing a vital support to the members of IPC. Especially, the IPC'll pay attention to have tied relationship to lOC by means of political and administrational contacts. Therefore, the IPC seems to have continuously a great role to develop sports for the handicapped.
