조망-은신 이론 기반의 박물관 전시 도입부 공간 설계 연구 - 서울공예박물관 금기숙 기증특별전 사례를 중심으로 - = A Study on the Design of Introductory Exhibition Spaces in Museums Based on Prospect-Refuge Theory - A Case Study of the Special Exhibition Dancing, Dreaming, Enlightening-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 서울공예박물관 금기숙 기증 특별전《Dancing, Dreaming, Enlightening》의 1부 공간을 대상으로 조망-은신 이론이 공립박물관 전시공간 설계에 어떻게 적용될 수 있는지를 분석하였다. 연구는 도센과 오스트발트가 제시한 시야 및 개방성, 공간적 경계 및 배경 구조, 심리적 안정감, 시각적 다양성과 탐색 경험의 네 가지 포괄적 개념을 분석 틀로 활용하였다. 분석 결과, 전시 도입부 공간은 정20각형 구조와 부분 조망, 반사 연출 등을 통해 조망-은신 이론의 특성을 구현하고 있었으며, 이는 관람객의 시선 유도와 심리적 안정감, 탐색 경험 형성에 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 진화심리학 기반 공간 이론이 리모델링 전시공간의 물리적 한계를 긍정적 공간 경험으로 전환하는 설계 전략으로 활용될 수 있음을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.

This study examines how Prospect–Refuge Theory can be applied to the design of exhibition spaces in public museums, focusing on the first section of the special exhibitionDancing, Dreaming, Enlighteningat the Seoul Museum of Craft Art. The analysis employed the four overarching concepts proposed by Dosen and Ostwald—outlook and openness, setting and context of frame, sense of safety, and visual and experiential richness—as the analytical framework. The findings indicate that the introductory exhibition space embodied the characteristics of Prospect–Refuge Theory through the use of a regular 20-sided structure, partial views, and reflective spatial devices. These design elements contributed to guiding visitors’ visual attention, fostering psychological comfort, and encouraging exploratory experiences. This study suggests that evolutionary psychology–based spatial theories can serve as effective design strategies for transforming the physical constraints of remodeled exhibition spaces into positive visitor experiences.
