This study was attempted to investigate the relationship among parent attachment, social support and subjective well-being in university students. The subjects were 420 male and female university students in Chungbuk province, Korea. The instrument used for this study were the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment, the Social Support Sale, and the Satisfaction with the Life Scale, the Positive and Negative Affect Scale. The major results of this study were summarized as follows. First, there were no significant gender differences in three components of subjective well-being. Second, both parent attachment and social support were significantly correlated with subjective well-being(life satisfaction, positive and negative affect). Third, parent attachment and social support predicted three components of subjective well-being in both male and female. There were significant gender difference. Male students` life satisfaction was predicted ‘appraisal support’, whereas female` life satisfaction was predicted ‘trust’. ‘Appraisal support’ in male students and ‘emotional support’ in female influenced positive affect. In addition, male students` negative affect was predicted ‘isolation’, whereas female` negative affect was predicted ‘emotional support’.
