經濟發展段階에 따른 새마을運動의 持續化戰略에 관한 硏究 = A Study on the Continued Evolvement of Saemaul Movement

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

1) As the term “ Sae ”in Korean signifies “ new ” and/or “ renewed ” in English, and the “ Maul ” means “ neighborhood ”or “ community ” , the whole term “ Sae-maul ” is often called as “ new community ”in English which already has its origin in the U. S. “ The Contemporary New Communities Movement in the United States ” by Gideon Gloany and Daniel Waldeon (Univ. of Illinois Press, 1974) exemplifies the fact. In the light of this the “ Saemaul Undong ”should well be interpreted as “ Saemaul Movement ”or “ Korean New Community Movement ”.
2) At the same time, the term “ Undong ”or “ Movement ” comprises the meaning of, firstly, driving, pushing force, secondly, campaign and education, and lastly, works of practical philosophy. This leads science of “ Saemaul Movement ” to the science of interdisciplinary approach : economic, social, cultural, educational and physical.
3) The Saemaul Movement in the urban region should be evolved through the citizens voluntary participation as a prototype of grass-roots democracy ; citizens-needs-centered approach.
4) “ Community Design ” in this case might well be born out by way of citizens participation in its true meaning.
5) To boost up the Urban Saemaul Movement to the effect of citizens voluntary participation through diligence, self-help and cooperation, the existing “ Pan Meeting ” along with “ Micro Bank ” system should be institutionally enforced.
