사건사의 인식론과 방법론 = Epistemology and Methodology of Eventful History

국문 초록 (Abstract)

사건과 사건사에 대한 새로운 인식론적이고 이론적인, 그리고 방법론적 관심은 법칙정립의 사회과학과 개성기술 역사학의 전통적인 대립적 지향의 구도를 넘어 역사적이고 사회적인 현상에 대해 설명적이면서도 행위와 과정, 그리고 역사적 우연성과 독특성을 동시에 포착하고자 한다. 우선 이 글은 사건사의 인식론적 입장에 대해 이것이 강조하는 시간성, 사건연쇄, 그리고 우연성 개념을 중심으로 논의한다. 이러한 인식론적 논의를 바탕으로 이 글은 사건사 분석의 방법을 경로의존 분석, 내러티브(사건-구조) 분석, 그리고 다사건 분석의 세 가지 대표적 방법들로 나누어 그 유용성을 검토한다. 마지막으로 이 글은 이 방법들이 한국사회의 사건사 분석에 대해 갖는 함의를 생각해 본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The emerging epistemological, theoretical, and methodological interests in event and eventful history, stepping beyond traditional opposition between nomothetic social science and idiographic historiography, attempt to causally capture action, process, and historical contingency and particularity. This article begins with discussion of the epistemology of the eventful history, focusing on temporality, sequence, and contingency. Then based on this, it reviews the uses of three major methods of the eventful history: path dependence analysis, narrative(event-structure) analysis, and eventful analysis. Lastly, this article concludes with brief reflection on its implications for Korean history of events.
