Community development includes a composite of process in social subsystem. As a process, community refers to the place where people maintain their home, earn their livings, and carry on most of their life activities. At least three major elements are necessary for the definition of community: 1) geographic area(territorial variable), 2) Social interaction(sociaological variable), 3) Common tie(psychocultural variable). In a short, a community consists of persons who are in social interaction within a geographic area, having one or more addtional common tie.
As a social subsystem, Community is a social system, the major subsystem of which are economy, politics*administration, education, religion, family and so on. Each of these subsystem, in turn, is composed of variety of social or associational groups. Finally, individual becomes a part of these groups, and hence a number of larger social systems, by taking activity attached to these processes.

According as the living area of people has been largely changed through modern human activities. It is necessary to appropriate area with view to convience of resident life petterns.
The major findings of this research show us that the area setting to community has been enlargement consistently to a remarkable degree. Though it is hard to define the area related to community, it is [Myeon] on the whole. At leasr the substitution of three major elements on the area related to each variable of rural community, including geographic area [the extent of Gun], social interaction [byond the extent of myeon] and commom tie [within the extent of myeon]. What seems to be the important independent variables are education, age and occupation, which are the most significant factors influencing the drive to enlargement of community.
Finally, a successful theory of area related to each variable of community should meet both his social subsystem in actual situations and changeble process in future oriented. The community theory that fails to area this fact in account can be able to identify to community development in accordance with social change.
