Ramsey theory is an area of ​​mathematics that focuses on the existence of a given sub-structure within a structure of a certain size. In this paper, we will examine the basic principles and history of Ramsey theory and focus on Ramsey number. We will also look at some of the proofs related to the Ramsey number, and present a new proof using pigeonhole principles.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

램지 이론 (Ramsey theory)이란, 특정 크기의 구조 안에서 주어진 하위 구조의 존재성에 초점을 맞춘 수학의 한 분야이다. 이 논문에서는 램지 이론의 기본 원리와 역사에 대해 살펴보고 램지 수(Ramsey Number)로 알려진 램지 이론의 한 분야에 초점을 맞출 것이다. 그리고 램지 수와 관련된 몇 가지 증명을 알아보고, 비둘기집의 원리(Pigeonhole principle)를 이용한 또 다른 증명법을 제시할 것이다.
