The Korean government is planning to gradually introduce the 5-day work week in 2002 in order to improve the quality of life of Koreans. The expected effects in the tourism sector will be an increase of travel demand during the weekend and changes in travel patterns.
This study include an promotion of cultural tourism, eco-toursm, sports tourism and night tourism for the introduction of the 5-day work week system in the Jeju island.
In addition, this study demonstrated the alternatives for the 5-day work week system in the Jeju area are efficient use of the related environment and maximum concentration of local resources and capabilities. This study confirms that what we set out to accomplish is attainable through the strategies presented in the study.
