진로교육은 학생들이 미래 사회에 적응하고 전인적 성장을 하여 행복한 삶을 이루도록 한다는 관점에서 학문의 세계와 일과 인생의 문제를 밀접하게 연결시킨다. 즉, 학생들이 자신의 적성과 소질을 알고 일과 직업세계의 이해를 바탕으로 합리적인 진로계획을 세우도록 도와주는 진로 지도는 개인이 지니고 있는 가능성을 탐색, 발견하고 이를 계발시켜 학생이 원하는 직업을 선정할 수 있게 해 주고, 의미 있고 행복한 삶을 준비하게 하는 교육활동이다. 그러므로 진로인식 단계에 있는 초등학교 시기부터 보다 체계적인 계획을 세워서 미래에 자신에게 적합한 진로의 방향을 인식할 수 있는 진로의식 성숙을 돕는 프로그램을 개발, 적용하여 장래 자신에게 적합한 직업을 수행할 수 있는 교육을 받을 자신감과 수행할 수 있다는 능력의 자신감을 기르는 일은 매우 큰 의미가 있다고 본다.
본 연구는 초등학교 진로교육 현장에서 한 학급 전체를 대상으로 진로성숙도 향상을 위한 프로그램이 진로자기효능감에 어떠한 효과를 미치는 가에 대해서 알아보는데 목적이 있다.
연구에 사용된 진로의식 성숙을 위한 프로그램은 서울특별시교육연구원( 2006)에서 개발한 초등학생을 위한 진로교육 프로그램과 선행 연구물들을 참고로 연구 목적에 맞게 연구자가 체 10회기 분량으로 재구성하였다.
본 연구의 결론은 진로교육 프로그램에 참여한 실험집단의 참가자들이 자신의 장점과 흥미와 적성검사 활동을 통해 긍정적인 자기이해와 직업세계를 연결하여 통제집단에 비해서 진로성숙의 태도 및 능력이 향상되었으며 진로인식 단계에 있는 아동들의 진로자기효능감을 높일 수 있음을 알 수 있다.
초등학교 진로교육 프로그램을 교육현장에서 담임교사를 중심으로 지속적으로 이루어진다면 진로인식 단계에 있는 아동들의 진로성숙도를 향상시키고 진로자기효능감을 높일 수 있으며 이는 학습지도와 생활지도에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있다고 보여 진다.

This study aims at investigating the effect of career maturity improvement program on the career self-efficacy with the subject of a whole class at the career education field of elementary school.
This study selected class 2 in 6th grade (total 27, 16 males and 13 females) as an experimental group and class 6 in 6th grade (total 27, 15 males and 12 females) as a control group in D elementary school, Seoul. The experimental and the control group classes were organized according to the school bylaws, and those two groups have a similarity in living conditions, education level, and sexual distribution.
The career consciousness maturity program used in this study was properly reconstructed by researcher from 'Career Education Program' for elementary school students developed by Seoul Education Research Institute (2006, 2004) and other previous studies.
This program consists of 10 sessions in total, with 50 minutes per 1 session. Taking into consideration that it is actually difficult to make time after school in elementary school, this program was conducted to the whole class during the discretion activity time on the school curriculum.
The measurement tool of career consciousness maturity used to demonstrate hypothesis of this study is 'Career Scale Test' for elementary school students produced by Shin Chul (1997), adapted from 'Career Consciousness Development Test' by In-Jae Lim, CMI (Career Maturity Inventory) produced by Crietes (1973), and CAI (Career Awareness Inventory) by Faolale. The measurement tool of career self-efficacy used in this study is 'Career Self-efficacy Test' for elementary school students developed by Mi-Sook Nam (1998) for the researcher's own study.
The data collected for this study was processed statistically by SPSS 13.0 program. The average and the standard deviation of the preliminary examination for the experimental group and the control group were calculated to investigate consubstantiality of the two groups. The t-test also identified that there was no difference between the two groups.
The analysis of data results of the experiment in this study can be summarized as following: Firstly, it was found that career education program has a positive effect on the improvement of elementary school student's career consciousness maturity level. It particularly had a positive effect on the determination of career attitude in the sub-area.
Career guidance program helps to enhance self-understanding, build healthy values for career search and career plan, and choose a career. Secondly, it was found that career education program which has improved career consciousness maturity has a positive effect on the education career self-efficacy of career self-efficacy.
It shows that career guidance program for career consciousness maturity can influence elementary school student's career self-efficacy and inspire self-confidence in choosing a career.
According to the impression reports after the career education program, the following evaluations are displayed: First, it provided an opportunity to think about what to do for their own career through self-understanding and understanding of the career world. Second, it improved career consciousness maturity and influenced learning and attitude to life of the students. Third, it helped to examine what exactly needs to be prepared for their own career and inspire self-confidence.
To synthesize above results, it is analyzed that the experimental group applied career education program to improve career consciousness maturity had a positive effect on the career consciousness maturity comparing with the control group. Moreover, it was found that the experimental group applied career education program to improve career consciousness maturity had a positive effect on the career self-efficacy level comparing with the control group.
As a result, it is considered that the participants of the experimental group were able to connect positive self-understanding with the career world through searching activity for their strong point and interest and aptitude test of this program, which enabled them to have positive career self-efficacy.
