The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the music education program of Orff Schulwerk on the task performance behaviors and attention behaviors of students with autism. Music activities have been utilized in education fields in order to mediate problematic behaviors of autistic children by providing them with opportunities of emotional expression or artistic experience. In particular, the music education program using Orff Schulwerk`s method has been one of the most effective methods in the field of education and music therapies. The participants of the study were three male students with autism who were enrolled in a general classroom of a middle school located in Geonggi-do. They also received special education programs presented in a special education classroom of the school. Direct observation was made both in general education classrooms and a music classroom. The multiple baselines across participants design was used to analyze the effects of the music program of Orff Schulwerk. The single subject research design carried out in the order of baseline, intervention, and follow-up. The results indicated that the music education program of Orff Schulwerk was an effective instruction method in enhancing task performance behaviors and attention behaviors for the three students with autism. Based on the results, music education program was discussed in terms of the best and recommended pe stices in the field of education for students with disabilities.
