In this study, Clothing Hygrometry was adopted and improved for the methodology of the dynamic moisture transfer on clothing fabric surfaces. Using this method, the effect of fiber type and finishes on dynamic moisture transfer was investigated. Pure cotton and polyester fabric series, functional finished cotton and polyester series, and vapor permeable water repellent fabrics were installed on simulated sweating skin. Changes in moisture concentration at both fabric surfaces(inner and outer) were observed. The moisture concentrations at inner side of cotton fabrics faced sweating skin increased slowly compared with those of polyester fabrics, which is superior comfort properties. in general, finishes increased time gap of moisture transfer from inside to outside of the fabrics, however, hygroscopic finishes did not always contribute to decreasing the moisture concentrations at inner fabric surfaces. It is resulted because physical changes in moisture paths toward outside of the fabrics were altered depending on fiber and finishes. From these results, it is noted that changes in moisture concentrations at both fabric surfaces(inner and outer) should be measured separately to evaluate the moisture related comfort properties of fabrics.
