This paper aims to analyze Diego de Pantoja’s masterpiece Chilgeuk(1614), focusing on the seven virtues, authoring techniques, theological thoughts, present implications, and so on. The author considered the important points revealed in this book as follows: Firstly, in relation to the virtues, the author dealt with the seven virtues such as humility, love, patience, purity, generosity, simple life, diligence, and so on. Secondly, in relation to his authoring techniques, the author focused on the Christian literary techniques based on the Bible and documents of the early church fathers and the Fu-ru-lun techniques based on Confucian scriptures, and so on. Thirdly, in relation to his theological thoughts, the author treated with the view of salvation and Christian ethics, and so on. Fourthly, on the basis of the core points of this study the author proposed sanctification and godly discipline based on the seven virtues to today’s Korean Christians.
