다문화한부모가족의 사회통합을 위한 지원방안 연구

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Due to increase in marriage immigrations, the number of foreigners is 1.74 millions in Korea, which takes up to 3.4% of population registered in the resident registration. The number is expected to grow up to 3 million by 2028 and 5 million by 2048, and Korean society is moving rapidly to a multi-cultural society. While there is an increase in multi-cultural families, there also is an increase in multi-cultural single-parent families. The multi0cultural single-parent families face difficulties compared to multi-cultural families or single-parent families. They are challenged with language difficulties, economic problems, childrencaring troubles, weak networks, discrimination and prejudice, and psychological and emotional insecurity. Yet, related legislations and specified government policies are not properly established, leaving the family members in pain and suffer. In order to actively support multi-cultural single-parent families, legislations such as the Act on Supporting Multi-Cultural Families and the Act on Supporting Single-Parent Families should be amended and, if needed, enacted along with research on actual status and living condition of them. The results must be reviewed and analyzed with gender perspective, which would lead to supporting them differently by their sex, age, lifespan, etc. Some of examples of specified government policies might be providing professional counseling service, offering information and related service for child support expense, strengthening vocational programs and job placement service, appointing government officers in charge of multi-cultural families and starting programs at schools to lessen discrimination and prejudice issues, and increasing services and building support systems for health and housing. Such diverse approaches on multi-cultural families would enable genuine social integration in Korea.
