Purpose The purpose of this study is to systematically analyze the impact of workforce aging—resulting from the extension of the retirement age—on corporate organizations and managerial environments, particularly among office workers, and to explore strategies for enhancing labor productivity through the use of generative AI tools, with the ultimate goal of providing practical benefits for both companies and employees.
Design/methodology/approach This study employed the Delphi technique to systematically gather expert opinions. A total of three rounds of Delphi surveys were conducted to collect insights from experts, and key issues identified at each stage were analyzed to derive policy and practical implications for expanding the use of AI among aging office workers.
Findings In conclusion, generative AI holds strong potential to improve the productivity of older workers by enhancing their work efficiency and task performance. While older employees generally view AI technologies and their practical benefits positively, they also face key barriers such as limited digital skills, challenges in writing effective prompts, and concerns about information reliability. These findings highlight the importance of organizational policies that strengthen digital literacy among older workers and foster intergenerational collaboration to support their successful adoption of AI.
