Methods of human detection using radio frequency signals (RF signals) have developed in many ways. Most human detection studies presuppose situations where people are detected indoors and there are no obstacles or a few. When using a high-frequency signal above 1 GHz, if the signal passes through the wall, it is attenuated, which has a significant impact on human detection performance.
In this paper, we implement a system that detects people well even when transmitting multiple walls, and for this purpose, we use a low-power signal of 433MHz. The RSSI data of signals collected by the receiver can be analyzed with a variance-mean analysis algorithm to determine the presence or absence of people, and achieved an average accuracy of 92.8% using the variance analysis algorithm and 100% using the mean analysis algorithm. Based on these results, accuracy comparisons confirm that these low-frequency signals and the algorithms used can detect people normally in situations where they pass through several walls.
